TESTIMONIALS - 'I cannot recommend them highly enough'

Heather Care has been providing care for my 106 years old Aunt for about 2 years. I cannot recommend them highly enough as a provider of high quality, professional and personal care services.

I moved care providers as the previous one proved unreliable.

The level of care that has been provided by Heather Care has been exemplary.

The care team that attend my aunt always deliver a professional service, but this is given in a very personal way - a perfect combination.

I have full confidence in their professionalism and my aunt looks forward to their visits as she views them more as friends than a service she receives.  The

Heather Care team have always been responsive and flexible to changes and are readily available to discuss issues that may have arisen.

I cannot recommend them highly enough as a provider of high quality, professional and personal care services.

Thank you, Mr C. Bolton

Client Testimonial The service offered by Heather Care is outstanding, of high quality and most importantly caring. Heather Care offer quality care, support, fun and interactive activities for my Mum. We especially looked for a provider who could offer all of these services in one package. We do believe that any one company can offer services into people homes. However, the most important aspect is to really care for loved ones. It takes a special company to deliver an outstanding high quality and most importantly caring service every day. This is Heather Care Ltd. I would highly recommend Heather Care to anyone looking for a quality service, with a highly trained and professional team. Backed by a head office team who respond to requests, queries and supports where possible. Your Sincerely, Glenda Partridge

Research suggests that listening or singing songs can provide emotional and behavioural benefits for people with Alzheimer's Music, memory, and Alzheimer’s disease Musical memories are often preserved in Alzheimer's disease because key brain areas linked to musical memory are relatively undamaged by the disease. Dementia is a syndrome in which there is deterioration in memory, thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday activities. Although dementia mainly affects older people, it is not a normal part of ageing. Alzheimer disease is the most common form of dementia and may contribute to 60–70% of cases. Research suggests that listening or singing songs can provide emotional and behavioural benefits for people with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. Musical memories are often preserved in Alzheimer's disease because key brain areas linked to musical memory are relatively undamaged by the disease. Is music recognition spared in dementia, and how can it be assessed? A case study is presented of an 84-year old woman with severe cognitive impairment implicating AD, but for whom music recognition and memory, according to her caregivers, appeared to be spared. The hypotheses addressed were, first, that memory for familiar music may be spared in dementia, and second, that musical recognition and memory may be reliably assessed with existing tests if behavioural observation is employed to overcome the problem of verbal or written communication. So, what is a Learning Disability? If LEARNING is defined as “Acquiring knowledge and skills and having them readily available from memory so you can make sense of future problems and opportunities.” It follows that a learning disability is a condition that limits that. read more blog https://www.heathercare.uk/ld A learning disability is a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday activities – for example household tasks, socialising or managing money – which affects someone for their whole life. Come and both have fun and learn One of the joys of being part of Heather Care-Sale is seeing the pride and excitement of all our members as they put on our Annual Christmas Show. Our varied performances Over the years we have brought to life, and given a new twist to, the stories of Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, The Sound of Music, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Wizard of Oz……all creatively re-worked by Gill. We’ve also put on some extremely varied, alternative shows: one that celebrated the uniqueness of every member of Heather Care and another, entitled “Armistice” marking the 100 years since the end of WW1. Music, Singing and Dancing We all greatly enjoy music so all our shows involve lots of singing and dancing and this year will be no exception when we perform Aladdin. We have such a great time preparing for the show, right from the start when we decide which production we will do; Steven often has ambitious plans – “Phantom of the Opera” was one idea that we had to put on one side (for the time being at least!). Then, once Gill has written the script it’s all hands-on deck to learn our parts, create dance routines, paint sets, gather costumes and make props. Show date Our show this year will be on Wednesday, 11th December. Contact us if you plan to join us https://www.heathercare.uk/contact

Respite Care, what is it? The dictionary states, ‘Respite care’ is short-term care that is provided for the very old or very sick [http://bit.ly/31aytiR]. Our Experience We know from experience that respite care is a valued service that enables loved ones to have a change, a rest in a lovely environment and importantly to have fun, laughter and enjoyment. For the families who are also the carers it provides time to recharge also, to catch up and take a break from the day to day care of their loved ones. Why is it important for the family The feedback from families is overwhelming, “I found respite care to be exactly what I needed. I felt guilty about leaving my husband at first, but I returned feeling much more energised and much less drained. Having looked after myself, this meant I could look after my husband better too.' Not only can this reduce feelings of anxiety or guilt, it can also help carers to feel less alone in what they are going through. [http://bit.ly/2qfmiET] Arranging Respite Care Arranging respite care will help you to do just that. You’ll be able to recharge by taking some time off from your care duties, while making sure your loved one is well looked after during your absence. However, it can be a worrying prospect to leave behind someone who depends on you whilst you take time off. There are many ways you can make sure they are well cared for in your absence. Every situation is different, so it’s important to consider what will work best for your loved one and discuss it with both them and the other people involved in their care. At Heather Care Limited we recommend a visit to our centre, take a look around our respite room along with our day care centre to learn more, and importantly, feel happy that all of your questions are answered.
